Το ανεβάζω με αφορμή τήν φετεινή εκδοχή του θεατρικού έργου που παρουσιάστηκε -όπως κάθε χρόνο- στο φεστιβάλ του Salzburg.

J.S.Bach - Cello Suites

Είδα στον ύπνο μου ότι με κυνηγούσαν οι νότες από το Πρελούδιο της Σουϊτας Αρ.1 για solo cello του Μπάχ για να εισβάλλουν στο κεφάλι μου κ την καρδιά μου κ για να γλυτώσω, άρχισα, λέει, να σκέφτομαι συνταγές.


Τί να πω για τη μουσική αυτή; Καλύτερα τίποτε. Ανεβάζω δύο διαφορετικές εκτελέσεις. Την κλασική, του Pablo Casals ( ηχογραφήσεις 1929-1939) από τη σειρά των ιστορικών ηχογραφήσεων που επανακυκλοφορεί η Naxos σε ηχητική επεξεργασία του Ward Marston. Η ηχογράφηση αυτή αποτελεί την επιτομή της έννοιας τους κλασικού γιατί κατά πάσα πιθανότητα αυτές οι εκτελέσεις του Casals αποτελούν και τις "πρώτες" εκτελέσεις αυτών των έργων στη σύγχρονη εποχή.

Η δεύτερη εκτέλεση, είναι η αγαπημένη μου, είναι αυτή του Andre Navarra κ την αγαπώ γιατί ενώ βρίσκεται στο πνεύμα του Μπαχ, ο ήχος πάλλεται από συγκίνηση κ δεν αφήνει κανένα περιθώριο αντίστασης στον ακροατή. Βέβαια ίσως έχω επηρρεαστεί κ από τον θρύλο του Navarra. Όχι δεν ήταν μάγειρας, ήταν μποξέρ. Κατά πάσα πιθανότητα, ήταν οι νότες που βγαίνουν από το τσέλο του Navarra που με κυνήγαγαν στον ύπνο μου...

Στη δισκοθήκη μου υπάρχουν ακόμη οι εκτελέσεις των Paolo Beschi με baroque cello κ οι δύο εκτελέσεις του Yo-Yo-Ma. Αν κάποιος θέλει κάποια από αυτές, εδώ είμαστε.

Marcel Duchamp The Entire Musical Work of Marcel Duchamp

though relatively unknown for his contributions to the world of sound, marcel duchamp's entire, though incredibly brief, musical output anticipated the radical direction of modern music vis a vis the chance operations of john cage and christian wolff (among many others) by nearly fifty years.

this recording documents four realizations of duchamp's 1913 compositions by the new york based s.e.m. ensemble at milano's studi regson in 1976. included are two interpretations of duchamp's the bride stripped bare by her bachelors,even, 1.3 voices: erratum musical and the 'instruction' piece musical sculpture. the resulting musical interpretations for voice, player piano, alto flute, celeste, trombone and glockenspiel are of a strikingly spare, slow and soft character that brings to mind the small sound compositions of morton feldman. this fully re-mastered disc features original photos of the performers and notes by petr kotik.

Russian Early Electronics

The ANS was an extraordinary musical synthesiser created by Russian scientist Evgeny Murzin, one of the first ever built, which allowed the musicians to make their music by drawing "notes" on a particular glass disc: then, the machine would transform the figures drawn into sounds, and perform them as a sequencer (but I really don't know how...). Electroshock has decided to celebrate this fantastic instrument with a compilation, featuring compositions by some musicians who have used the ANS, and composed just in the period 1964-1971
